Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign striker Karim Benzema from Lyon.Madrid have agreed an initial £30m deal to sign Benzema which could bring the next wave of stars to madrid.

The 21-year-old had been linked with Manchester United but the Spanish giants - who have already captured Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo - seemingly have won the race for his signature.

A statement on Lyon’s website read: “Lyon announces the agreement with Real Madrid of the transfer of Karim Benzema for a net minimum of 35m euros (£30m).”

The Franch hitman had been top of Sir Alex Ferguson’s shopping list at United sought a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
But, despite earlier in the day from the French club, Benzema has agreed to follow Ronaldo to the Bernabeu as part of a summer spending spree from the Spanish giants that now stands now almost £180m!
